dazed and confused toFREELANDER
Dear friends
Hope all is well. The reasonI write to you is to see if anyone can give me honest, useful and true information on the freelander.I haveinvestigated most every web site on the subject and have concluded that 1.8 freelanders are a real no no.Also that 2002, 2003 freelanders are fairly reliable maybe 50 50.I also noticed that when these studies are conducted that all freelanders are mixed together and as a result the bad crop of 1.8 s are included.I also read that for 2004, freelanders recieved 700 favorable changes .Many people,so called experts have told me that 95 percent of all freelanders have had motor issues. So this means that if 200000 freelanders were sold that 190000 had engine issues,is this posible?I have been offered a 2004 freelander hse with 24000 miles, still under warranty, but for a short time. This is my question Does anyone know if the most important reliability issues have been addressed in this model?I love this vehicle I am dazed with its looks but confused about its reputation.Sure hope you can help me out.Thanks.

RE: dazed and confused toFREELANDER
Just my two cents here....
I pretty much tell everyone this when they post on boards looking at a new vehicle. Freelanders appear to me off hand to be pretty finnicky. You need to inspect the maintenance records of a potential purchase of a Freelander to the 9th degree. Make sure every service has been done on time and he has stamps in his books to prove it. If it was me, and for whatever reason I wanted a freelander, that's how I would do it.
