I'm hoping that someone reading this can help me out with a small project. I'm driving a Freelander 1 from 2002. In the center of the dashboard just under the windshield there is a digital clock (see photo). I read in an English LR forum that Freelanders in North America had a thermometer showing the outside temperature that was part of the clock, and that it was connected to a plug behind the front bumper (European Freelanders did not come with a dash-mounted thermometer). A couple of weeks ago I was taking off the front bumper in order to clean the intercooler and I noticed an unused plug behind the bumper on the driver's side and am thinking that that might be the plug in question. Then I started wondering whether it would be possible to somehow source a dash-mounted thermometer that would be compatible with my car.
So, am I right in thinking that Freelanders in the US/Canada have a dash-mounted thermometer showing the external temperature? If so, would it fit in the same space as my current clock? Finally, if it does exist and it would fit, where would I get one?
Thank you in advance for any insight or advice.
Dash showing the clock. Does this instrument exist with an external temperature thermometer?
