Freelander 1 2002 1.8 petrol engine

Default Freelander 1 2002 1.8 petrol engine

While on the road with my Freelander the other day, the oil "low pressure" lamp started to blink. Stopped engine immediately and opened bonnet. Big oil leak from engine down at bottom right side (engine front where crank shaft pulley for v-belts is located). Anybody with similar experience who could enlighten me on what might have gone wrong? Much appreciate you assistance.
I opened up the engine front where crank shaft protrude through lube oil pump and found that the oil pump simmering had slid out resulting in the lube oil leakage described above earlier. Does anybody know or have an idea as to what the reason for this might be?
