Freelander 2.5 v6 water pump replacement
Hi there my name is mark & i'm new to this forum & need some advice on the replacement of Freelander KV6 2.5 l vehicle water pump which has been leaking.
I spent a good 4-6 hours removing all the surrounding equipment on the engine & have finally got access & freed up the large aluminium cover plate that the water pump sits behind. However i am unable to fully remove the large aluminium cover as it is impeded by what seems to be the crank pulley & a plastic shroud around the crank pulley
It would seem that removal of the crank pulley might solve this dilemma, however when i put a socket & brace on the crank pulley bolt all i end up doing is turning the engine over.
What is the best way to lock up the engine so i can remove the crank pulley & the pesky aluminium shroud thingy...
Vehicle is automatic transmission.
Thanks mark

Mark. You need a special tool for the damper. It is a hollow large nut with a handle. It holds the damper so you can loosen the damper bolt through the center of the tool. If you have not done so, download the RAVE service manual. It is out there for free and is worth a ton to LR owners.
