Freelander won't start!
Need help! I have a 2002 Freelander with 47,000 miles. Have had it for two years and until now it has been ok. Lately, you can get in it and it will not start. Nothing happens, no click, no trying to turn over, nothing. Then after a few minutes it will start. Friday, as my wife applied the brakes while turning into a parking lot, it went dead. She called me to come get her. After several attempts at starting it with nothing happening, it all of a sudden started. I drove it to the house and killed the engine. I then restarted it. I killed it and restarted a scecond time. I did this for about four times in a row, all successful starts. I then mashed the brake. In fact, I stomped it. Then it would not start. No dashboard lights would come on. The headlights, radio, power windows all worked but it would not turn over, no click, nothing. That was saturday afternoon. All weekend I would try it and nothing would happen. Today (Monday), my wife tried it at lunch and it cranked. She then killed it and it would not crank again. I am at work at the moment and cannot see it. I know this maybe sounds like a battery, but shouldn't the dashboard lights have come on? And why does everything else work? Any thoughts? I would appreciate any you may have.
I had something similar happen but it was just a dead battery and everything went on for that except wen i tried to start it it just went click and nothing. Maybe its and ignition problem thats what i thought my dead battery was. Try new battery thats a cheap way to start troubleshooting.
hi I change engine in my freelander diesel 2.0 . got everything fixed by the mechanic.
but the engine doen't start. A test was done. A wetted cloth with gasoline was put infront of the air inlet and then tried to start the engine. The result was that the engine started and run. The engine stop when removal of the gasoline wetted cloth. But the enigine dows not want to start on diesel. What can be the problem? Need desperate help from any one that has knowledge on this subject.
