They want $4,500 for a Freelander with hail damage....ridiculous.

Why is that ridiculous?
My family had a Honda Pilot and CRV both totaled 2 years ago with estimates over $2000 each.

Do these make good vehicles? I was thinking about getting an AWD one for storm chasing.

With the hail damage they are ready to be coated with bed liner for that "expedition" look...

Chevy Suburban K2500 works good, plenty of room for gear, windshields are cheap as they are same as the pickups. Would think you would want "mass", not "tiny". The 454 ones have a 42 gallon tank, and you'll need every drop.
