Default Looking for 02 Freelander Exhaust Parts

Hi Everybody...1st timer here.

I need to find a good source for parts. I'm specifically looking for the rt. side catalyst and the mid muffler assembly for my 02 Freelander (NA 2.5l gas/petrol).

My vehicle has 80k miles and, up to now, has performed quite well. The passenger side catalyst is broken (noticeable exhaust leak) and the mid muffler is rusting out.

Ihaven't been able to find many sources for parts and I'm not ready to drop $979 for the PS catalyst (dealer part price) and $437 for the mid muffler.

Any help is most appreciated.

Thanks,
Larry

Just to get an idea on your emissions laws, where do you live?

I'm in Texas and I had the second muffler cut off completely, aka resonator.

I gained 3-4 mph hwy and in Texas it's legal. It is possible to do aftermarket if you want a sound like no other Freelander. Mine is louder now, I love it.

I'd suggest aftermarket High-flow cat(s) and a flowmaster. But I don't know what you like.

It'd be a lot cheaper than that factory stuff, and might sound really good.

I'm in Michigan and I'm not sure about the emissions laws here. I'll have to do some research.

I would be interested in the aftermarket high-flow cat. Where did you get yours? Did you install it yourself?

When you say your "second muffler", do you mean the middle muffler, or the rear muffler?

Thanks for the response and the info!!

Larry

did some research on aftermarket cats

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/V...012680/c-10101

not too expensive

and they could probably be picked up at any muffler shop, with a single exhaust, single aftermarket cat, and single aftermarket muffler, you might be looking at around $500 with all the labor for pipe bending, or even for the money you could save, maybe even a dual exhaust might be worth it.
