Default Looking at a 2004 Freelander....

Hi all. I'm looking at buying a 2004 Freelander, fully loaded with 65000kms (45000 miles) on it. I've always loved Land Rovers and this would be perfect. My only concerns are about reliability and fuel consumption. I can do almost any repairs myselfas long asparts are not too expensive andI don't mind getting my hands dirty so long as there is not a problem every month. What kind of problems can I expect to encounter over the next 50000 miles?
Also, is there much that can be done to boost fuel economy at all?

Thanks,

Rich

Hello,
I work at a Land Rover dealer and I just read your concern about the freelander. It is a great looking car. Burt I was just going to be honest with you about this kind of vehicle. They do experience a lot of coolant leaks. Expansion Bottles do experience some craking and leak. Also Head Jobs are very very common. Coolan loss and no actuall finding of where the coolant goes. head gaskets are also common. A ticking noise comming from the intake?? Well the two intake motors on the top and the side are very well replaced also. Other then that I would recommend doing the timing belt job at 65k. It is definately recommended!! If you have any other questions...please dont hesistate to contact me...thanks...melissa
