Default 1997 4.6 gems to 99 4.6 bosch motor

I was wondering if anyone could help?

I have a nice 97 rr hse bad 4.6 gems motor and a
wrecked 1999 rr hse 4.6 low mileage motor

can i convert from gems to bosch?

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Do you have the whole 99'? This would make it easier. I am sure it can be done but you will need the computer and probably some connectors, maybe need the transmission and T-Case, and probably some of your electronics will not work right with the swap. I am sure if you had the time you can chase down the wiring diagrams and find out what goes where. I have done some weird stuff but that one would scare me.

No you can't because of your tranny which is not ECU controlled.
But what you can do is pull the Bosch side of the manifold and sensors and switch your Gems over to it, basicily using only the long block of the Bosch engine.

all p38s have an electronic valve body, its a different ecu though. swapping everything wont work that well either, as ecu communications are different. if you do the block, itll work fine, you need to also swap cam gears and crank sensor bracket, and be sure that your flexplate sits at the same depth
