Default 2001 vs. 2002 RR HSE

Hello owners,
I'm searching high and low for a 2002 RR, but getting impatient. Should I broaden my search to include the 2001 models?
I know of only one recall on the 2001or stick to the 2002. All advice appreciated.

Not aware of any differences between the two years except in 2001 they still had the SE models, 2002 was only HSE

Thanks for the input guys. My search continues. I did put in a call to LR headquarters to see which of the two models has less complaints filed. They said that they do have records and would give me a follow up call. We shall see.

I had an 02 Yes they only made the HSE 4.6 version in 02, the 4.0 was discontinued. How many complaints did they tell you about? 4-5 million and counting LOL

RROJ, I honestly don't think there will be a difference between what year of rover you buy in terms of cost of ownership. It really is simple, you cannot put a price on preventive maintenance. So if the rover has been well taken care of, you can expect to pay much less money to keep it on the road, regardless of the mileage or year.

02 had a few more service bulletin items taken care of before it left Sollihul. It also had a few different paint choices, and a couple of special edition models that were unique in order to keep buyers interested knowing the 03 was coming out and completely different. Most of the 99, and all of the 00, 01, 02 had the Bosch engine management and fuel injection. There's a great book on the p38 by James Taylor (not the singer) titled "Range Rover - The Second Generation" that has a lot of history and information on the various model years.

Thank you men! I ended up buying a Pagasus 38 2002 Black on Black in mint condition under and above the bonnet! 77,000 miles with the EAS in tact and working like a charm. No codes or lights flashing on the dash board. lol
