Default 2002 Range Rover HSE SPORT QUESTION

Good day to all , I am looking at a 2002 Range Rover HSE Sport. It has 101,000 miles on it , Seems to be in great condition for the miles and year. Any defects that I should be aware of Before I make a offer?

Thank you

Earl

Go on line and check the recall list. Also have it checked over by your trusted mechanic so if he or she finds anything you will have some bargaining chips. Best of luck!

Earl,
Like the Rovin4life stated, the Sport models weren't released until 2006. The 2002 you're looking at is the P38 style (old body style and engine). The mileage of 101K is right about the time when significant service is likely needed unless it was already performed. First off, the engine gaskets need to be replaced (suggested at 100K). Also, is the EAS fully functional? If not, the repairs for this could cost you thousands depending on what's needed. I would highly advise spending $100 or so and have a Land Rover specific mechanic look at this truck before you buy it ...not just your normal mechanic if you're new to LRs. There are many things to look for in these P38s that a non-LR mechanic will not known. To be honest, unless this thing has a meticulous service history, I would stay away from it ...100K miles is when people dump these trucks just as the problems start arising. If you're a DIY person when it comes to cars, then go for it.
