Default 2010+ L322 LED halo headlight recoding?

I want the LED rings on, when the headlights are off, when on the AUTO setting.
basically have them on as a DRL.

as of now I can ONLY turn on the halo's manually, by selecting the parking light setting...they also come on with the headlight of course, but I want to keep my headlight switch on full-time auto, and see them during the day.

I believe the dealer can do this, but it's 2015, and the service department no longer believes in favors.
I refuse to pay e a $150-200 hour labor rate for a easy programing that literally take a minute.

does anyone know if an OBD-II reader is capable of these adjustments?
a VAG-COM perhaps? or some other type of automotive reader?
has anyone does this?
