1+ Scott.

The service engine is just a gimmick to get you to bring your truck to the dealer every now and then. Mine has been on since I got it and I know that all of my service is up to date. Doesn't your light turn off after a short time?

The "service engine soon" light has remained on since June 17th. I would hope it would turn off sometime soon. I will go over everything again just to make sure nothing is wrong. I'd would like to just not worry about it like you guys say its just a gimmick to get the owner to bring it in for service. The milage is at 77,400 which to me is not like reaching the 80,000 mark or the 100,000 mark which the manual states to change and check all sorts of parts. As always men thanks for your support it really does lesson the anxiety.

I thought the service engine only light did not come on in the Range Rover at a pre set mileage? I know my old Discovery did this but I was told my Range Rover would not do it. I am at 54,000 miles I guess I will see soon enough...

Guys, the light "service engine soon" went out on its own on my 02 RR HSE with approx. 77,400. If I were to count i'd say that it went out after I started the engine ten times since the warning light first went on several days ago. I just ignored it and kept on driving like all of you advised. I did do a quick check under the bonnet to see if anything needed attention and it all looked/smelled normal. No worries just like all of you said.
Thanks again for all of you who commented and were supportive.
