4.0 Litre P38 fuel pump location and operation?
Hello all
We have a P38 Range Rover out here in Cabinda on the west coast of Africa which we are having a problem with. The car is cranking, we are getting a spark but we have no fuel.
Could someone help us to find the fuel pump location and also how it operates?
Does it take a feed from the ignition and run off a pressure switch or does it run through the ecu etc?
The forum looks like a good one, fingers crossed I will be round a long time.
Dave!

RE: 4.0 Litre P38 fuel pump location and operation?
The pump is located in the fuel tank and can be accessed thru a panel in the cargo floor under the carpet.
Before you go to far, check the fuse and consider replacing the fuel pump relay, which are known to fail alot. You probably should change the fuel filter also, not because it is causing your current problem, but they will somewhere down the road and most people usually forget about it.
You would be wise to use a test probe and verify power to the pump. The pump will, when working properly, turn on and run long eneough to bring the system to operating pressure and shut off, when the engine starts up it will run until you turn off the ignition and I believe runs off a pressure switch only.
Hope this helps.
