95 Classic heater core. Can i just slide it out from under the dash?

Default 95 Classic heater core. Can i just slide it out from under the dash?
It looks like it but the manual says otherwise. Anyone done it before? It looks like if I remove the center console around the shifter that it will come out. Am I just being wishful?
