Default '99 RR fires and runs, but no move...

My '99 RR was having running issues and the dealer said it was the ecu. Well i ordered another ecu and replaced it with that...but now the RR wont move. It will fire and run but when put into gear nothing happens. I can put the old ecu back in and the problem continues. Any help would be great

Thanks Nate

Which ECU did you replace? Engine, transmission? Any messages on the instrument panel display, like oh, maybe "Gearbox Fault"?

It's not uncommon for the gearbox selector switch to fail on these trucks, I've replaced many of them.

I replaced the engine ecu, but ended up putting the original back in...the only thing it displays is EAS Fault. When I try and put it in park i can hear what I assume is the parking pod grinding. So I shut it off in neutral, then put it in park. I can then get out and push it back and forth like it was in neutral. So this leads me to think its transmission related...?

Check faults in the auto gearbox ecu. Then post what faults there are, if any.

Possible selector issues? It baffles me because I drove it into our shop with no problems. Opened the bonnett replaced the original engine ecu with the new one and this problem occured. So I then put the original ecu back in and this problem still occured...The vehicle has not been offroad, bottomed out, or hit anything or had anything hit underneath to break anything, so I dont know why this would happen all of a sudden.
