That will be a fun one. There are a whole bunch of possible issues that could be happening. Start with the easy stuff. Make sure all of the ABS sensors are clean and fully seated. Do the brakes work properly? If the accumulator is old and the nitrogen charge has been lost then the ABS pump needs to run all the time and the brakes will have issues. Check this link for some hints: abs On my P38, I had to replace the pressure switch with a reman unit to get the lights off. It is installed in the ABS unit itself and isn't available separately other than remanufactured although supposedly one from a 1989 - 1994 SAAB 900 fits: Land Rover Addict Forums Here's one for a 1993 SAAB and it sure looks like the part: Saab Services, Saab Parts, ABS Pressure switch issues ATE, Teves, Jaguar, VW, Rover Here's another possible source: 8994071 Aftermarket - ABS Pressure Monitor - OE 25530882 - Free Shipping I bought mine through these guys and it worked great: ABS Pressure Switch for Range Rover Z104 | eBay Not cheap though, but still much less than a new pump! If you need a pressure switch, I think the eeuroparts one is the way to go.

The abs/tc in a P38 is actually pretty awesome when it's working well. The brake system stores hydraulic fluid at around 1,800 psi and when you hit the brakes or need to stop a spinning wheel the solenoid just opens up and the caliper clamps the rotor. In a Discovery, the pump has to build pressure before the system can get to work. If the accumulator and the pump relay are replaced regularly, the system will work fine for a long time.

Yeah my d1 abs is crap I ended up pulling the pump fuse, if the abs kicked on you could stand on the pedal and never slow down

I know that his wife said brakes work fine and only abs lite on so I will pass the info along as they are not computer savay
