Default Alternator Wiring and Dual Batteries for 90 RRC

Any one have any advice for wiring or accessory upgrades for adding a higher amperage alternator ?

I have a nice Powermaster 130 amp small GM alternator and would like to add it as well as a second battery for accessories ( I may add a solar Trickle charger as well for the RV battery ) . Any pics , diagrams , advice will be appreciated greatly .

No need for the extra alternator really,
that is unless you are REALLY going to be sucking some juice for a massively demandingpurpose!,

How about wiring up a split charge relay (approx £8-£14) to your existing alternator.
(preferably the 85 amp unitor higher anyway).

Depending on your engine bay setup, if like mine, do as I did & make space in engine bay by making a small bracket & move the power steering fluid reservoir toward the alternator slightly, insert your deep cycle or leisure battery in the vacant battery position ( check air filter box for clearance ) if it fouls, replace with a Universal K&N style air filter (making sure it is the correct size for your setup.)

Wire up the split charge device as per instructions - enjoy theextra power!

I have 2x 500+ CCA 12v batteries in my RR, & it does my needs a plenty!!

Hope that is helpful to you!

I meant add it to the vehicle in place of the factory Lucas unit ( my fault for not being clear ). I was hoping someone had some tricks or tips for the actual wiring of the alternator i.e. : larger wire here , a capacitor there , "do this-but not that" kind of advice....... but thanks for the input anyway.

Cheers and welcome to the forum.

BTW its all done - New hand fabricated bracket , and all .... works great !
