On a D1, you can add a second battery over by the air filter with just a little work, then tie the batteries together or throw a switch between them.
Why are you looking for duals and what battery are you looking at?

If you will also be going for a winch, go to Deep Cycle batteries now, like Yellow Tops.

Yellow top's are trash. Try a DieHard Marine Battery, Platinum PM-1 - Group Size 31M from sears. Do it right the first time.

the best thing to do to keep your audio system from draining your batteries and putting a strain on your alternator is to have a capacitor installed... i had a 1.5 farad capacitor and a 2000 what amp with two tens in my old car and when i turned it up and the bass hit the capacitor kept my lights from dimming like they would have without it...

The facts are there are a couple of different Odessey batteries, and the company that makes them also makes a battery for Sears, but I believe that the Sears version is of lesser quality the the original Odessey.
As for the comparison between the Yellow Top and the Sears battery, all I can say is mine duals work well and were way more cost effective then 2 Odessey's.

does adding a second battery put a great deal of strain on the alternator?

if you were to put one in place, would you just connect it to the existing battery: pos to positve, neg to neg. ?
