have the EAS inspected. Probably the most common failure if its at/above 80k miles. Inspect air shocks for cracks/leaks, make sure the Rover raises up to height somewhat quickly (checks the compressor and for random, hidden leaks).

WolfPacks abosolutly right,CHECK THE EAS system first! Give the AC/Heater system a spin(an upward $800 job easily), checkall the door locks(see if theyALL open with the remote, mines keep shorting-out),then take it for a spin and see if it rides comfortable. These P38s are BEAUTIFUL trucks, but they demand alot of TLC and expensive-little-repairs. I have a Gorgeous '98 i purchased last Mayand eventho i'vedropped over $2500 in repairs so far,Iwouldnt trade her for anything on the road today.

And if you do decide to purchase that '99, take it straight to a specialized shop right after for a full dianogstic. I will cost around $150 and will save you alot of "Oh I didnt know that" extra money. And Oh, did I say there's NO OTHER TRUCKS THAT LOOK BETTER ON THE ROAD TODAY?..... ok maybe the new Range Rover Sport, but the price diff doesnt add up to me.

Absolutely gorgeous trucks, I agree! Also the nice thing about these trucks is that the people that buy them usually spend the money to take care of them. That means dealer services, regular synthetic oil changes, etc. Just check those door locks (I had the same problem on mine) and the EAS. I did the diagnostic route as well, found out I had a leaking rear diff, turned out to be a loose bolt on the diff cover. Definitely saved me a ton of money in the future.

Another good thing to look for that is a tip-off to potential problems is the book/exclamation point failure symbol on the Climate Control. If it's on, beware, b/c that means there's something funny in there...blend motors, heater core, etc etc. bad news.

Thanks for all of the advice, turns out the one I was looking at had a problem with the compressor.
I agree that they are beautifull trucks and thats why I am looking for one.
Ialso like the versatility since during the week I drive around town but every other weekend I go to theranch(at times it can be a bitmuch for a regular2wd just getting there, but its not too extreme) and from what I have read and seen this would be the perfect vehicle for me.

So I am still looking
