Default BeCM on P38 ?????

Hi, my name is Dan and i have just bought my first Land Rover. Its a 1996 P38 2.5 DSE Range Rover. Awsome car... i love it. I bought it knowing that everything works bar the dashboard. The previous owner told me they had a replacemet battery and then since then the dashboard instruments dont function. The backlight works and the srs light comes on during start up and then goes out again, there are also a few beeps and then they stop but the speedo, fuel gauge, odometer and temp gauge do not read anything. Does this sound like the BeCM ?? If so what are my options at a low cost.

Also what would you expect MPG to be on motorway...... it seems to be very economical....

go to the fuse box under the seat, check fuse no1 top left 10 amp red. check it after with a meter, if its blowing, well, could be just a faulty radio. -(shares the supply with binnacles) if its ok, then i'm afraid you have probably fried your becm, its not a thing to just plug and play, you need to talk to a becm specialist. this exact fault just happened on my p38, and it was the becm, its an expensive repair. you need a known good (perfect) second unit, and his expertise to tear down your old, remove data, and relay that into the known good one. this should clear the fault. just plugging in a new/used one will not allow car to start and will possibly vaslty inflate your odometer permanently. speak to a becm reapir guy, (or to) look them up on a well known secondhand items auction website. try fuses carefully, p.s. respect your radio connections, that was the cause of my problem.
