bought a new 2008 RR, noise when...
Hi,
I bought a new 2008 RR. Great truck, I love it. I bought it tuesday and last night I noticed that when the ignition is on the position #2(just before starting the car) I hear a soft siren noise along with a steady beep that seems to come from under the hood. I opened the hood but I have no idea where it comes from. As soon as I start the car I dont or can't hear the noises anymore. If I keep the ignition in the first position its ok I dont hear those noises. Does anybody now what this could be? I am taking it to the dealer on monday to see what they have to say.
i am happy I chose the RR, I was looking at the Land Cruiser but my wife liked the RRmore.
Thanks for your help,
George

It might be the fuel pump priming the engine before you start it but, just not functioning properly. The new jaguar engines are notorious for having faulty ones. Not to say that is what it is but, it could be. Overall the engines are very stable despite a few weak points.
We've got a Jaguar xjr and I LOVE that engine. I don't drive it all to often but, i do know it gets the crap beaten out of it day by day and we haven't had any issues with it. Its the same engine that is in all the modern land rovers except the lr2 and the v6 version of the Lr3. Its weak point though is the fuel pump, we have only replaced ours once as it was a recall and it was under warranty so no worries, I'm sure they have since resolved that issue but, you never know.

LRScott, I agree that the Jag engine is great! There is always plenty of power available, it is smooth and it always seems to be in the right gear.

Why do you guys list your other cars? Are you that proud?
Why do you guys list your other cars? Are you that proud?
It is very common to list your cars in your signature within the realm of a car forums. You will see this inmostcarforums. Some people just list the car names, some also include their modsand still others include cars that they once had that are now sold (among many other things).
You have to realize that out here you are mainly speaking with enthusiasts where cars are much more than just a mode of transportation.
So in short, Yes, I am that proud.
