Default brake indicator lights

when i step on the brakes on my 2001 p38a especially the first time in the morning all of the brake indicator lights come on for about 1/2 sec. the abs light then stays on for another 5 to 10 sec. this happens about every 5th or 6th time i hit the brakes. i also noticed if u start the unit up and back up i have about 1/2-1/4 brakes.no brake loss going forward. i've read about the computer braking. Is this common? or is this something that need to be fixed?

Just to clarify, the ABS light will remain illuminated untill you exceed approx 5mph from start up, the the other lights will extinguish after the computer has run its diagnostic, usually in around 3-5 seconds after start up. If you are seeing the lights at any other time, this almost always points to your brake accumulator going bad. If this is the case, replace it before your pump goes out due to excessive run time. An accumulator will run you around $150 and will take around 10 minutes to fit using a good oil filter wrench. The pump will run $1500 + and will require an awful lot more time and effort to replace.
Hope that helps,

Chris.
