I know this is an older thread now, but wanted to add my opinion on the engines. I own some auto repair shops. I have an 04 RR. I've had my share of problems, more than any Lexus and less than any Mercedes I've ever owned. But I have to say the BMW drivetrain is surprisingly easy to work on. Although I haven't had any 06+ in the shop for repairs, at a glance, the Jaguar motor seems to be just another variant of a Ford motor, like may other "Jaguars" Ford has released. I'm not sure if that's necessarily a bad thing because Jaguar didn't make very reliable engines, but I can say from a relaibility standpoint, I'd take a BMW engine over a Ford or Jaguar.

 

Having had an 04 jaguar for more than 5 years, I have to say they make a good V8engine (This does not apply to the x or s type jaguar, those do use ford v6 engines and are based off of the ford taurus chasis). Can't say if they are easy to work on, haven't worked on one myself. Jaguar still uses the ZF transmission that they always have, and that both Land Rover and BMW used and continue to use. Having had 2 jags with the same engine and no problems ever. I would take that engine over the BMW engine provided in the L322. Ford did not develope jaguar's v8 engine. However, ford did use the Jaguar AJ V8 engine on the lincoln LS and ford thunderbird.
