Default Tips on Buying Used Disco

Hello,
New here... Looking to get a used Discovery and I have read the best years to get are 96/97 and 2003/2004. (The same place I read about some years being prone to oil leaks). Not sure if that is so true or not. I am open to any suggestions or advice anyone can offer up. (Things to look for, things to avoid.)

Thanks in advance!!

Star with the basics, what do you want one for, how much are you going to spend and what is the difference between a D1 and a D2?

Thanks for the side by side comparison! That was helpful! Looks like the 03/04 SE7 are the way we are headed. Found one for $9995 with 77k that looks good... And 2 others with higher mileage that we are also considering. My husband isn't too thrilled by the gas mileage but we both love the drive and so much more that the discovery has to offer!!

Thanks for your help! Looking forward to soon have our Discovery!!
