Can anyone tell me what this is
Its kind of hard to make out. Looks like a peep hole, maybe (mine has something of this sort but its metal, and my other car its plastic). Anyhow, that green stuff is probably coolant, although it should be orange dexcool not green oat (check your coolant resivour and tell us what color it is). The coolant is most likely leaking from somewhere above the transmission and then leaking down the side of it. Check your hoses for any signs of leaks.
What a weird color combination... You are right, coolant is blue, and transmission fluid is green. Which means your transmission is leaking
. Take some more pictures, that one you posted is very blurry. Although, the sticker underneath it says "filled for life" many owners have found benefits by flushing it with new ATF.http://www.rangerovers.net/maintenan...nyservice.html

I took it to the dealer as I was close to the 90,000 mile service. Dealer told me it was a leaking manifold(or near that location). i should be picking it up tomorrow so i'll have more info to post an up date.
I found this pic from a post on another site. I think land rover is making their own coolant and not using the bmw blue. The green color for the transmission fluid is not the color of the fluid but the type plate that uses ESSO LT 71141.
