Default charging A/C?

Well, I was going to charge my A/C on the 93....but something is different. There is NO pressure in the system, but I cannot get it to accept any freon. Is there something different about the valves?I charge it from the valve at the rear of the compressor, correct? And dont I use the one to the outside of the vehicle?
