My rover doesn't get up to full operating temperature with the temps we have been having in ohio lately. Would it be ok to block off some of the radiator with card board to try and raise temperatures. The reason i ask is i think the blower motor is frozen stuck.

 

No, change out your t/stat using the factory specific temp t/stat.
If it still happens, you will need to have someone test the temp sensors and see if the coolant sensor if failing which will cause the engine to run way to rich.
My 99 d2 reaches normal operating temp here in Denver on a -0 sort of morning in about 10 minute.

It would be better if i chose my words better, it reaches NOT when idling or at low speeds say 25 MPH, but at highway traveling it cools down about halfway inbetween the blue mark and the middle of the guage

 

Then again I would suggest you have some hook into your system and verify your engine temp trru the OBD2 port. Then you can see what exactly is going on and what to replace to correct the issue. What ever you do, don't try and restrick the air flow thru the radiator, you'll loose and engine one daqy when you least expect it.

Ok thanks, I hear about people doing it to diesel's and thought maybe it would work with gas, but then again diesel is a whole different beast

 

You can do it with a diesel cause the more heat they can have, with in limits, the better they run, which is of course not the same for a gas engine.

Yea, I know more about diesels then gas, specifically the 7.3 and 6.0 powerstroke motors, but i'm catching up in knowledge with the rover gas 4.6 v8
