Default cylinder heads 2003 range rover.

the dealer recently removed my heads and notice i had blown head gaskets and cylinder heads.theywere basically warped. They stated that the cylinder heads had no temper left and that the cylinder heads must be replaced;if not the engine would still continue to overheat.do anyone know what they exactly mean about no temper left on the cylinder heads?

I want you to call a local engine machine shop that reworks heads. I believe the dealer is so full of BS. Get a second opinion and then have that shop do the head work.
What is the dealer charging your for this head gasket job.
Once you confirm that the heads are fine, I hope you tell the service manager he and his mechanics are a bunch of thieves.

1000 for the job.I actually talked to the machine shop and he stated that the cylinder heads had no temper and he couldn't guarantee his job.He said that he could resurface the heads but he felt that it would not hold.I actually located some cylinder heads for 800 for the set and im going to have them to resurfaced and then put back on the block. Therefore,i hope it solves the problem of my overheating issue.what's your opinion on the lower block once i replaced the upper block.Do you think i will have further issues?

You are making a huge mistake, alloy heads don't loose their temper. If your engine had been that hot, your would have dropped a sleeve and the engine would be junk.
How many miles on your truck?
You might want to call me to get back on track.

if both the machine shop and the dealership said the heads need to be replaced, they probably do. theyre alluminium and will warp if they get hot enough. if the dealership says you just needs heads, and there ends up being something wrong with the block, as long as you do it there, and its a respectable shop, theyll take care of any further issues you might have.
