Default EAS question

so i'm back in a P38. missed my '97 dearly.

i picked up a really nice 2000 model that still has its EAS in tact (which i wanted) and i picked it up with it sitting on the bump stops.

the PO said her mechanic said the module was bad, but of course its worthwhile to make sure thats the problem before ordering parts blindly.

the compressor hasn't been kicking on at all, and the PO also included an extra compressor that she bought, anticipating that would cure the problem which it did not.

i bought the EAS Buddy Box from RSW solutions, cleared the codes and still have the same result -- compressor will not engage. now that the EAS fault has been cleared, it has not returned, and each time i scan it, the system says its fine, but obviously its not.

what do you guys think? the EAS ECU is bad? valve block driver? both?

Have you tried to pump up the system with a jumper? You could establish that the compressor at least works and the lines don't leak. Typically the problems lie somewhere other than the ECU and the driver. Leaks at connections or problems with the o-rings in the valve body are usually where the trouble starts, followed by failure of the compressor or its thermal switch due to excessive operation.

i think thats going to be my next step. however the PO said they were doing that for a while and then even that stopped working.

where is the thermal switch for the compressor?

It's located in the motor end of the compressor. I replaced the one in my P38 when I had it. Pretty straightforward procedure. They are prone to failure. A worn piston or leaking system forces the compressor to cycle too often and the thermal switch eventually fries. The replacement compressor you got with the vehicle, will of course have a new switch in it.
Here's some info on where to find the switch: http://www.socalusedroverparts.com/v...sw-install.pdf

well i was able to replace the compressor and jump the new one and get it off the bump stops.

so now i need to still figure out why the compressor won't engage.

Have you checked the pressure switch? If the system never sees low pressure, it won't kick on the compressor. Check this video out:

Had a rover do that once. Had a low signal and instead it would keep going to the top. Ended up being the module. jump the switch.

ok i have a big problem and i'm just completely stumped.

i've rebuilt my valve block, replaced my pressure switch and now my rover is just all over the place. i took my time to follow the valve block rebuild instructions step-by-step and i'm not finding any air leaks on the block after the rebuild with the soapy water test.

its only inflating the rear bags, and even those aren't being raised evenly. the rear right pumps to full off road mode and the fronts are completely dead and it will not level itself.

the height switch on the dash is entirely useless, and sometimes its even inflating the bags WITH the door open. idk what the hell is wrong. could this be an EAS ECU issue? replacing the pressure switch did not solve my problem with the compressor. it is still not turning on by itself and needs to be jumped.

i dont know what to do or even where to start, i'm totally lost.

You are gonna need a display to see what is going on. No test equipment no go. you could be seeing odd issues with door latches or other stuff. Whatever it is you have to see what is going on. You have to ascertain what the computer is seeing to realize what it is doing. You can only see this on a display, a full screen display. Trust me. Hawkeye wouldn't really work on something like this.
