Fuel Pump Failure-Aftermarket options ?

Fuel Pump Failure-Aftermarket options ?
My pump went bad and after pulling it I noticed that the failure was a short that caused the connection in the tank to melt. It seems to me that and aftermarket pump and fuel pressure regulator would be an improvement in design , less expensive , easier to service and tune if needed.
Has anyone done this on a 90 RRC like mine ? Does anyone know the optimal pressure ?
Any info would be appreciated ....

RE: Fuel Pump Failure-Aftermarket options ?
Thanks Mike , I am actually looking to get mine out of the tank. I am looking to build roadside servicability into my rig as it will be taken on some very long distance drives. I am trying to get some of the idiosyncratic issues a little more friendly to address repairs on if I have a break down in the desert or whereever. If I get the pump out of the tank and swapped to a more standard style it will be better. I am also trying to increase the fuel pressure slightly as the folks at RPI say it improves the spray pattern on the injectors and gives slightly better performace and economy.
Thanks for the tip though. Much appreciated

You might want to talk to someone more experienced with the technical side of injectors. I think I remember heaaring that you really need to stay with in a certain pound pressure or change out the injectors. Let me know what you do and how it works.
