Genuine or not?
I went to Jiffy-lube and got my oil changed earlier, the tech said they use aftermarket filters which work great. Is there a REAL difference between the genuine Land Rover filters and the aftermarkets or is this another "Evil Dealer ploy" to get you to spend a ridiculous amount of moneyon the work they do?
Yes there is.
search for maybe "best & worst oil filters" or something like that. you probably know the drill.
I believe I found a U of Colorado? study re: oil filters - it was very enlightening.
Disco Mike has some skinney on this also, beg him

The biggest issue when buying a oil filter for a Rover is that if the filter doesn't have a good stainless steel back flow valve, all the oil can and usually will drain out of the filter and oil pimp so when you start you have no oil pressure and wear does occur.
The 2 best filters to buy are the K&N 3001 or the long Mobil 1 oil filter, both opf which are better then the factory filter cause they have so much more filter media in them.
