I was wandering around the hills (public land) above town about a year ago and noticed a 1988 RR stuck at the bottom of a really steep incline (ravine). No plates and it was apparant that someone had stolen the truck to go joy riding out in the mountains..where the truck never went on public roads. This led me to believe that these vehicles are targets for those who want a party car,so, whenever I park my RR at a trailhead, I always take the coil wire with me. Does anyone think this would work much as a theft deterrent?

The coil wire is the direct lead from the coil into the center of the distributor.

no coil = no start.

Does stop someone from flat-bedding it or grabbing rims/stereo/gps, but it'll stop most average smash/grab attempts I'm sure.

Like you always hear, if the professional thieves really want your car they will get it but it might stop an amateur.
