Heartburn....Buyer's Remorse???
Hello Range Rover Nation....
My wife bought an '08 Range Rover Sport on Saturday. Low miles - 34,000, the truck is very clean.
I've been reading all the bad comments about the maintenance.....I think I'm going to be sick!
I drive an '03 Land Cruiser, with no problems.
Should I be worried???

With that being said, the truck is pretty cherry! I would say the interior is damn near mint - although I haven't scoured it...and there are a couple of minor marks/scuffs on the rear. Not really noticable.
The wife absolutely loves it....so here we go....fingers crossed!

You only ever hear about the bad things. That is what is wrong with the internet. Think you made a bad choice? Google "Honda Transmission Issues", "VW Transmission Issues", "VW Oil Consumption", "Toyota Engine Issues", "Mini Timing Chains", "Mercedes Balance Shaft", etc...
Fact is, you can pretty much google any manufacturer and any car part and you will find "horror stories" regarding it. Land Rovers use the same technology (air suspensions, ZF transmissions, CAN Bus technology, etc...) as most other manufacturers, so in my opinion, are just as reliable as many other cars on the market and yet do it with such grace and capability.
Find a competent mechanic and stay on top of issues. Ignoring minor issues compound into even more expensive repairs. I see vehicles come through my shop where some failures could have been prevented.
I think you made a good choice and congratulate you on your purchase. The only thing I would have recommended you done differently, would be to get a Pre-Purchase Inspection from a Land Rover specialist or dealer. Well worth the $100-200 they cost.

If you cannot afford the occasional repair of owning a Range Rover, you should consider other options. Either a Ford Taurus or perhaps an older Dodge Status.
Someone who lays awake at night worrying about repairs, or comes to a forum looking for some type of reassurance, probably can't afford the vehicle, in my view.
