And the thought occurs to me that a very useful test tool would be a 12V sonalert beeper with a pair of what the telco guys call bed-of-nails alligator clips on the end -- they make a sealable piercing of the insulation on wires, and the sonalert could be clipped on under the truck and still tell you when you have power. Very sensitive to non-continuous power, too.
