Default Long Term Parking

Anyone know how long a battery might last for long term parking without recharge. I have a 2010 RR Sport with about a two year old battery. No issues with charging or the battery. I plan to take a 3-week backpack trip and hope I will be able to unlock my doors when I return.

I was thinking one measure mikgt by to run a few feet of heavy gauge wire from the battery to outside the grill. That way, I could hook some jumper cables up to at least unlock the doors, then open the hood to jump as normal.

Any thoughts?

That's funny because I thought I was the only person who thought of such things! I had the same problem about a month ago when I had to leave my Disco II in long term parking at dfw airport. I backed in the parking spot (for possible use of jumpers cables) and disconnected the battery ground side cable. Started right up (after two weeks sitting) when I got back. I was taking a chance with the weather.

But my door will unlock with a key.

Here on the second page the key blade pops out. You can remove the door handle cap with the key blade and insert the blade into the lock cylinder to open the door and release the hood.

Default Thank you British Auto Works

I had thought of this but was told from a dealer this is a one time usage, that the plastic beauty cover will be broken off in the process. Does this seem correct? I guess not a big deal if unavoidable.

If you're careful, you can reuse them. The little plastic teeth are fragile. These things are like $16. Cheaper then running jumper cable and much safer too. You can also take an Uber to the airport for cheaper then parking these days, unless you live really far from the airport or somewhere were Uber is not active. Long term parking in San Diego is about $10 to 15 a day.

The handle cap is actually $19. LR032990
