Default lug nuts

I have a '95 RR County and would like to replace the original lug nuts that have the aluminum caps with something solid that are not so easily torn up. Any suggestions?

I doubt you will find anything out there to help. Big thing is use the correct size lug wrench or socket and they will never fail. Mine went bad cause my tire store used the wrong socket, they replaced them all at $16 apiece , I bought athe correct socket and always give it to the mechanic if the tires must come off.

I have the same problem. Someone pounded a 27mm socket onto my lug nuts and they are all chewed. You could look on Ebay. There are a couple people that recycle Rovers and have lug nuts available. There may also be some aftermarket solid lug nuts. I haven't looked in a while. I know a set of used one go for about $100 plus shipping. New ones are around $15-$20 each. The lug wrench is occasionally available there also.

Thanks for the advise. Looks like I just need to replace the lugs that are screwed up.

I have also seen 5 packs listed on Ebay; again don't remember the cost, but I know they are less than new. Mike's right about the lug socket or OEM wrench. 28mm is too big and will spin the corners off and 27mm is too small and will dent the faces of the lugs. Let us know where you find the replacements. A dealer should have them in stock and will sell individual lugs.

The solid lug nuts that came with older wheels apparently work just fine. I swapped in older wheels with solid lug nuts, but had to re-use one of the funky cap ones (lost one along the way). They all fit the same.
Saw that Atlantic Brit has solid ones for $10/ea (glad I only need one).
I have a whole set of these cap ones and would swap a couple for the one solid one I need. (Also have a spare set of chrome bologne-slicer wheels, for that matter.)

I have many of the older steel lug nuts. I'll sell them for $1 each plus shipping if anyone is interested.
Thanks,
Paul

Does anyone know the offical size socket for the RR Classic? Its not 27mm or 28mm...

I've had my Classic for over two years and still have not been able to get tire off myself (Factory socket is gone).

I guess Land Rover thought it would be necessary to make a lug nut that is sized 27.5 mm for servicability and convenience. Wonderful idea, huh?

I think you will find a 1 1/16 six point works well.
If so, buy one and keep it in the truck so when you do go to a shop, you will have the correct size and not get your lug nuts ruined.
