Default Maybe a stupid question but.........

My 06 HSE has a regular key with the fob but the owners manual shows it as a folding key with a more square fob. Whats up with that. I would prefer the folding key but since I have both as new Im not sure I would want to incur the cost to have a new one made. My question is still, why is it different ? Was the key a model year change ?

The 07 to 10?(i believe) got the flip open keys...and then they went to the push-button start after that. The 2006 is an unusual year as it has the dashboard style of the 2005 but with the AJ V8. Seems they kept the BMW-style keys around one extra year before going to the flip style key.
