One of many trips to the dealership for you Faymester! Joking. Let us know how it goes (how long it takes, exactly what they had to replace, etc.)

Ok, so it took 2days (which is what they quoted me). The list of stuff they did was 1.5 pages (I haven't had the chance to look over it yet, I've been so busy).

Um, fairly uneventful trip really. Seems like everything is fine now.

It snowed again over night and most of today so it's play time for myself and Rover again

Got a letter from LR about this that states,

As an expression of our appreciation for your understanding and loyalty we have authorized your retailer to extend you on our behalf up to $150.00 in parts, service or accessories. This offer is good six months from the date of this letter. (1/5/09).

I needed a part and called to ask if I could apply this $150.00 and they did w/out me even bringing the rover in for the service yet

Interestingly enough....I had a recall on my '03 RR that sounded very similar??? They also gave me a credit at the dealer for my trouble. It was something to do with a drive spline (I thought).

Default Recall list of things they will cover

Hello, new here. I just bought a 04 mkIII on monday, found out about the recall Tuesday. Can anyone provide a list of things they are fixing? Besides the things that are covered under the recall has anyone had any additional/residual problems in other areas due to the extreme vibration this issue is causing? Thanks

Not only is it a good practice to let Land Rover know you're the new owner, they sometimes send free goodies. I have received a free keychain, free Land Rover coffee and a zippered travel document case!

no, its solely for the front differential input flange. that is all that is changed, it goes from being splined to being bolt on, they had a problem with the splines wearing and the flange stripping out. when it happens, stripping that is, you know it, the car is left undrivable, it will not move, and makes a loud grind when in gear. they do give you 150, a loaner, and will reimburse you if youve paid to have the diff replaced before, as long as it was a rover part. anyway, if you havent had it done yet, get it done, but dont be frantic about it.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if vibration caused by this issue could cause additional or uneven front end/hub/brake wear? This rig is bucking like a damn bronco after about 20 mins of operation @45-55 mph.

Per the NHTSA

If you were fortunate enough to put a 2003-2005 Range Rover in your garage, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is delivering some bad news. According to a just-released recall, a total of 19,168 Range Rover models may have misaligned front driveshafts. If left unchecked, the increased wear on the front splines may cause them to fail... possibly leading to an accident. While this recall isn't exactly explosive in nature, it is an item that should be inspected and/or replaced. As a result, Land Rover will begin contacting owners after January 6, 2009 to schedule appointments for the installation of an updated design, if needed. In the meantime, if your beloved Range Rover is severely vibrating, or making a nasty front-end noise, please go have it checked before something ill happens.
