Default No Sound on Navigation

I have a 2000 4.6 HSE with the James Navigation. It's the old style with the 2 round buttons and the ****. Everything works fine except there is no audio. At first it was muted but even after I un-muted it there was still no sound. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

just to clear thing up.
no music sound or no james voice?
sometimes "james" will mute the music to tell you things and never unmute
the music, is this the case?

James doesn't talk. But every other part of the nav works--the maps, location entry, route guidance, etc. Also, the CD is a copy of the original, so maybe that's the problem?

i am not sure that a copyed disc can cause this problem but
when i get weird issue with the nav system i wait till i get a 2nd rover
in the shop of the same or close year and swap the cd-rom drives
its easy to do, but you need a set of ford radio removel tools to get the
rom drive out and due a swap.
