Who runs Optima batteries in your Rovers? Their website says that it takes a size 25 but is seems so small. Does anybody run the yellow top? If so, what size?

 

I have a red top in my Disco. It is a beast. I would love to go with the yellow especially when I get a winch. If I remember right they are all the same size; they are just separated by the color tops. I know that my red top is smaller in size than the factory one but has greater cranking power.

 

Is yours a 720 CC? Size 25? I've always felt my Rover cranked over too slow. I was thinking about going with the 900 CC.

 

I do not know which one it is, I bought it about 4 or 5 years ago and it still runs great. I will check in the morning for you if that is okay?

 

stick with manufacturers rating and above. otherwise the battery goes bad at random times cause all the juice is sucked out to start it.

On a cold day you might be lucky to start.

 

The Sears DieHard Platinum are much better batteries than Optima.

 

I'm with Tom I run a Sears DH Plat and its fantasmical! with a great warranty 2 boot.

 

What size Diehards are you running? I looked on Sears website and they say they don't have any compatible ones. Looks like a size 34 because that is what their gold level comes back as. I wonder why they say the Platinum isn't compatible?

 

yes i run a 34. there is plenty more room in the box though when i get a bumper and winch i will probably run a bigger battery or cut the jack location wall out and run dual 34's.

 

You can't always go with the sizing chart. You have to go with actual dimensions and see for yourself if it fits. Here's the Platinum group 34:

I have this in my D1's, only the P4 (P1 doesn't have side terminals).
