Default Owner locked inside car - can't get out ??? !!!

It's a P38, 1998, 4.0, somehow her mechanic got her out - but what is the problem / solution ?? Weird.

Sounds like the car was superlocked.

How did this happen while inside the car? The only way to superlock as far as I know is with the remote (two presses of the lock button), or with the key in the driver's door (two turns to the lock position).

Why does a car even need this "feature"? I can't think of ANY benefit (other than to your mechanic) to need a "superlock"...

When I leave large packages in the car, I superlock it so that even if they smash a window, they cannot open the doors.

Just another layer of theft deterrence, and it's not unique to LR/Jag, a lot of BMW's have the feature as well.
