Default p38 speedo not working

My speedometer hasn't worked ever since I got it so I'm trying to track down the issue. Already ruled out the becm since the connections are good. I have a new speed sensor but I. Can't find where it goes. Service info said rear of the transfer case...but I took that out only to drain the damn transfer case since it turned out to be the temp sensor.

Is the speed sensor located in the transmission??

your best bet is to hook up testbook to see what it is seeing. Perhaps it is seeing all the right parameters and the speedo isn't responding or something else. Its an electronic guage getting parameters from a couple of places so Testbook will allow us to see what the vehicle is seeing and activate the speedo as well.

aside from test book are there any common places to look? i haven't even found this program to begin with, and LR specific scan tools are astronomically expensive.

i know my speedo itself isn't the problem because it comes and goes occasionally...its either a loose connection somewhere or a bad sensor. the speed sensor that i got from the dealer happens to be buried way up inside the transmission so i'd rather exhaust all other possibilities before i have to drain the whole transmission and get in there for this little part.

Where is the speedo connected. I did the coil over. Did I knock it off by mistake?
