Default P38 - what are these really worth?

Howdy!

Prior LR3/current LR4 owner here, mechanically uninclined (but I know a good local shop), saw this 1997 HSE RR on Craigslist:

It has had tons of maintance in the last 1000k.
Heads rebuilt and all upper gaskets replaced, headers wrapped.
Radiator and heater core replaced all new.
Front and rear pads and rotors replaced and turned.
All oils and filters changed, full synthetic oils.rear end transmission, transaxle ,front end, engine, and brake.
New plugs and wires, all injectors cleaned and throttlebody upper intake parts.
Carpet pulled and pressure washed, headliner new.
All 4 sunroof drains cleaned and sunroof replaced.
New leather shifter handle and leather parkbrake boot.
Plastic pulled under wipers and both air filters replaced pinestraw cleaned out.
Two new catalytic converters and stainless duell exhaust installed.
Hood and top repainted and car buffed.
It has the air shocks replaced with coils.
Kenwood sounds great and has ipod plug in.
I have fixed so many things I cant remember everything.

Reading between the lines, I get the feeling the car was full of water at some time, either flooded or via a bad sunroof. If that is not the case, and all this stuff has been done, what should I expect to pay for something like this? The usual price guides suggest ~ $ 2,500. This fella wants $ 4,000, which isn't terribly much, but...I just have no sense for a real-world price here, despite perusing the various fora.

Oh yeah, what still NEEDS to be done?

Thanks for any advice/comments/brickbats.

" Oh yeah, what still NEEDS to be done?"

You can start with > " The a/c does not work and engine light will occasionally come on." What are the codes from the CEL? Does the seller have all the receipts for the repairs? And from this > " Just the head rebuild and paint were $2000" you can assume(if done at a shop) the paint/ and or the heads are a halfass job. Have it looked at by an indy rover shop.

This truck looks like the seller spent a weekend getting it ready for a typical craigslist buyer/ebay buyer. It's shiny so it must be good. There is more tire dressing on the engine than on the tires.

With 136K miles, and a what looks like a 19 year olds truck....IF ALL checks-out, not a penny over $3000 and that's being kind. I don't see one thing in "tons of maintance in the last 1000k" that would make me open my wallet in a hurry( OK maybe the Mondial Wheels..lol). Your call, Good Luck.

very few people who flip a cars are going to completely replace the SS exhaust, replace the suspension, replace head gaskets, radiator, heater core, brakes & rotors, headliner and touch up paint. just to sell it on craigs list.
more than likely you got a owner who though he had a good car, but now bank account is empty and needs to sell.

Thank you all--very useful feedback. Sounds like the price guides are reasonable, with about 3-4 times that amount of additional expenses waiting in the wings.

If I buy it, I'll report back..."IF", that is

Used cars are fickle. These are pretty cars, and they lure you in, be cautious, and don't be docile, if you are it will be dear as your dollars.

I never did end up getting that car, or another used Landy for that matter (saving up now to get my house painted).

But it took 2 weeks to fix the DVD player in my wife's LR4. Luckily: warranty !!!
