Default is it possible?

Still trying to sort out the abs/tc faults. Think I got it. Metered all sensors with the analog meter. Front sensors metered over well 900 ohms and the rears read 0 ohms. So I guessed this is my problem. How can both go at the same time if possible or if there is something else I need to look at.

Do you have any leaking wheel bearings? One of mine was leaking and oil got on the gear that is read by the sensor. Replaced the wheel bearing seal and cleaned the gear and the sensor. Problem solved. I think it is highly unlikely that both rear sensors failed at the same time.

Well I do seem to have a leak from the rear left wheel. Behind the rotor sheild is always wet. Smells like gear oil actually. Pulled out the wheel sensors and cleaned them. Looked inside the hub and cleaned the hole where the sensors drop in. Was pretty cruddy(mud?) in there. Is it suppose to have gear oil in there? Or is it suppose to be dry? If it is dirt in there can I just drain all the fluid in there and hose it out?

I believe the oil seal is supposed to keep the oil out of that area. On mine, I got lucky by only having to replace the seal. Most of the time the bearing is shot. Mine was ok. It took about an hour. Just follow the instructions for removing the wheel bearing. I could be wrong, but on mine I think the problem was oil and crud on the gear that the sensor reads.

It should be dry in there. Definately sounds like you have a bad seal on that axle. The mud is probably a combination of dirt and gear oil. I would check the fluid level in your rear diff ASAP!!!

Oh well that can be a problem. The sensors are always wet when pulling them out. Fluid is good and clean(change about 3 months ago). Could that short out the sensors? Being wet.

I don't think they short out, they just mis-read the gear causing the fault message.

Change the seals out first. The last thing you need is all of the fluid being sprayed out while you drive on the highway.
