RRC Preventative Maint. / Preemptive Replacements?
First things first, if there is an applicable thread orwebsite you would like to point me to, I won’t be offended in the least.
I am looking at buying a RRC, likely pre-95 and replacing the motor with a 300tdi. I started looking at Toyo FJ60’s and after my father bought his ’07 RR I started toconsider the RRC. Bottom line, I just like the finish of the RRC better. I don’t need to hear about, “why would you swap the motor to a diesel?” I get it, not entirely rational. But I will rebuild the motor, remove the EGR valve, put in a larger intercooler, and use a transmission previously mated tothe 300tdi. I will also replace the air suspension to avoid that headache and swap all the bushings right off the bat. At theend of the day, I know I’ll have to put work into this truck, but I don’t want to be stuck on the side of the road on a weekly basis.
SO HERE’S THE QUESTION(S);
What would you replace right off the bat that is known to fail? Water pump, heater core, or wiring known to go bad?
What kind of preventative maintenance can I do to improve reliability? In aviation we check certain things every so many hours. Is there a check list of sorts for RRCs that one could follow?
Finally, thanks in advance and my skin is thick, so noob comments are welcome.

well if your changing the drive train out, engine, trans and axles, and suspension. so what is there left to replace.
the mounts, water pump, radiator, hose, belts, shocks, brakes, fuel tank and line will be all new.
the heater core has to be done from the inside after removing the dash, so no advantage their.
and Lucas The Price of Darkness can show up at any time for any reason he wants.
