Default service engine light

service engine light came up on my 1999 range rover 4.0. i
Is there any way to reset it

You can buy an OBDII scanner to read and rest the codes. They are getting cheaper by the day and you can probably find one for about $50. Another option would be to go to an Autozone or similar and they can usually read them for free.

i do have obd scanner but it is not check engine light / its service engine light you can't read that one,so dont know any sagestions on that one

Unfortunately there is not a real definitive way to answer this. However, you do have 2 options. The first option, is the cheapest and involves disconnecting the battery overnight. However, this does not always work, and if its a BOSCH or NAS model I would not recommend it. The second option, take it to the dealer and have them reset it .

This may help you. According to the Rave manual, the service engine light comes on after 50,000 miles and stays on. Yes I believe Scott is correct in that the dealer can reset it. Of course you could do what the previous owner of my RR did...just remove the bulb. It seems that this bulb is triggered by mileage, so in my case I really didn't have a problem with the bulb being removed. The whole procedure takes about two hours if you take your time. I avoid the dealer like the plague, not only for the $ but because the nearest one is an hour away from my house. Hope this helps you.
