Smells Like Burnt Oil
1. Some Rovers have a fuel burning heater - see RAVE tech manual. (lol - been waiting with that one)
2. If you have the standard heater and AC, the fresh air intake for the system fan leads up to just below the windshield. Could be sucking in smell from engine, which could be loose valve covers (8mm 12 point socket evey oil change - snug up), or oil separator in the passenger side valve cover stopped up. Valve covers leak down onto exhaust manifolds. Need to get a 1/4 inch drive socket, it is a tight fit.
