Default Srs air bags repacked at age 10!

I read the manual and it said that the air bags needed to be serviced, repacked by the dealer at 10 years of age. Has anyone done this service?
Do you believe in it? What's your opinions on this issue?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have never even heard of anyone doing this.

They don't get repacked or serviced.

Don't bother. if they work they work.

besides unless you want new airbags then its a waste of time.

My Landie is 10 years old. I could A: replace both airbags for many hundred dollars or B: rely on the SRS light illuminating at startup during the SRS test then turning off if everything checks ok. Hmm...

When the light stays on, I will repair what is broken. If the light is not on, I am going to assume everything is working, and hope that I never need the airbags.

Thank you men for your responses. I will leave well enough alone. I hope to as stated above that I never have them deployed in an accident.
Safe motoring men.

as stated above wait for the SRS light to come on. then you can get the SRS system read and fix what needs it. More than likely it wont be the bags that will go but the seat belt pre-tensioner.

Mine are over 10 years old, will I be replacing then, no, should they be, that is another issue. The SRS light comes on if it can detect a problem, the factory for 2 reasons, suggests you deal with the at 10 years old, 1) to cover their buttes from liability claims and 2) cause the explosive charge looses it effectiveness as it gets older and becomes and will not protect you as they did when they were new, which then leads us back to reason )1.

Ok, well its something to ponder in the next two years for me. I definitely want to be protected in case of an accident. I will ask the dealer how much for the procedure and will post it when I get an expensive answer. Thank you Disco Mike for your explanation. RROJ

Just don't wreck. Problem solved.

If you must wreck, hit something small.

When I'm in Jersey I feel like each trek out in public I'm risking my life. There are so many cars on the road it is ridiculous. Just after refueling I had a guy who was so impatient behind me and because I did not cut off on coming highway traffic he passed me on the right and then proceeded to cut someone off almost causing an accident. "in a rush to no where" I guess you all know that when a Range Rover is about to enter on to a highway its quite a while until she hits 60! lol
