Default Tailgate lights out only

I have a message in the message center that says left brake lamp failure. The lights on the fenders both sides are good as well as the third brake light. My problem is the tailgate lights are out, all of them. I prodded the wires in the tailgate and the only ones hot are associated with the latch. I popped off the trunk panel on the right side, and the wire dissapears? I'm assuming it goes to the Body control module under the seat but am not sure. Do the tailgate lights have their own fuse? or do they splice into the other wires for lights?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That is a really odd issue, I would check the fuses first, as they are most likely the cause. A simple reset might fix this problem as well. What kind of voltage are you getting?

The reverse lights work but the two others dont. There are 0 volts going to the two other lights. I replaced both bulbs and no change. I don't know if they are marker lights or brake lights. I took out and reinstalled all the fuses in the Becm and none of them were blown.

Those are your rear fog lights. The switch is on the dash next to the front fog lights. I believe the key has to be in the on position and the headlights on.

I would have never guessed. I thought they were marker lights that were on all the time when the lights were on.
